Batt insulation and Blow-In insulation are both used to insulate attics.

Attic Insulation Systems

Fiberglass Batt Insulation

Batt insulation the most common and widely available type of insulation, and the type that comes to mind for most people when thinking of insulation. We install fiberglass batt insulation. Batts are available in widths suited to standard spacing of wall studs, and attic or floor joists. Batt insulation:

  • Has excellent acoustics
  • Is noncorrosive
  • Does not absorb moisture
  • Unfaced batts are noncombustible
  • Won't settle over time
  • Is lightweight
  • Is certified for superior indoor air quality (IAQ) performance

Blow-In Fiberglass Insulation

Fiberglass insulation can be blown in to nearly any space and is commonly used to reinsulate attics in existing homes using unbonded loose-fill fiberglass insulation. This insulation provides excellent coverage in open attic areas providing complete coverage and increasing the R-value in the attic. This loose fiberglass insulation that is used for blowing can also be dense-packed into other closed-cavities:

  • garage ceilings under heated areas (where there is a room above a garage)
  • interior walls for sound control
  • between floors for sound control
  • upslope areas in attics

Cellulose Insulation

Cellulose insulation is made from recycled newspaper and is a popular choice for many homeowners. As with fiberglass, cellulose insulation can be blown in to nearly any space including attics. As with blow-in fiberglass insulation, cellulose insulation is blown over the top of existing insulation in attics. Cellulose can also be dense-packed into other closed-cavities:

  • garage ceilings under heated areas (where there is a room above a garage)
  • interior walls for sound control
  • between floors for sound control
  • upslope areas in attics
